My approach to coaching, facilitation and presentation is holistic, and designed around you personally, or your business or business team. I do not work to a designated framework, and deliberately steer clear of 'tick-box' approaches - in my experience on the receiving end, these simply do not work! Every individual, every team, every business is unique, with a unique set of experiences, priorities and needs. Key for me is to facilitate personal authenticity, an open an honest dialogue between people and an ability to tap into creative intuition: that which enables us to think, feel and act, free from the artificial constraints that we place on ourselves, due to our past, our issues in dealing with others and the structure of our environment.
My key influences and interest areas are:
- Unitive life coaching, the roots of which are in Jungian, Gestalt and person-centred psychology and existentialist philosophy. Unitive coaching is an approach to personal and professional development which facilitates a journey to complete self-awareness and personal authenticity.
- Meditation. This is a highly effective tool that enables us to let go of our ego concerns and reach a state of total relaxation and quiet contemplation. Regular meditation can aid us along the path to self-awareness, help us in managing stress and anxiety and release our creativity.
- Art and the use of imagery. Imagery is a great stimulus for creative thinking, an effective tool for tapping directly into unconscious thoughts and feelings, as well as an excellent way to record complex data and information into a simple, easily understandable format.
- Story-telling. Spoken stories are fundamental to the way that we communicate. Telling people something is uninvolving; telling people something through allegory engages them completely.
- Nature and self-sufficiency. Our increasingly remote relationship with the land, the environment and the means of production of food and energy have led to us feeling dependent. We are literally unable to look after ourselves any more - and can begin to feel dislocated. Modern living can also necessitate an 'over-specialisation' where the majority of our life is spent concentrating on a limited number of tasks and experiences, rather than giving us the great variety we crave. Simply being outside more, and being more (although not completely!) self-sufficient, can re-connect us with ourselves.
In summary
- Person-based approach
- Built around you and your needs
- Breaking down barriers
- Enabling a focus on the present moment
- Facilitating open dialogue and creative intuition
