My person-centred, creative approach to coaching, team-building, facilitation and presentation training has been developed during the last 14 years, whilst I was working in research, the last 8 running my own businesses. I sold my business interests in early 2008 to focus on what I love most: working directly with people. Since then, I have further developed my skills as a unitive coach and graphic facilitator, including collaborating with Charles Bentley, the originator of unitive coaching, on his book about this approach.
Coaching
Throughout my career, I have coached staff through personal and professional challenges, as well as mentoring entrepreneurs through the process of setting up their own businesses. My role has always been to act as a non-directive facilitator, enabling the people I coached to discover solutions within themselves, and to develop the confidence to be themselves. In 2004 I worked with Charles Bentley, as a client of unitive coaching, and more recently in 2008 completed the advanced, post-graduate tutorial in unitive coaching and became a licensed unitive life coach myself.
Understanding people
In my research work, I helped blue chip clients to understand, at great depth, the needs of their customers, and used this knowledge to develop customer-centric products, services and marketing communications. A key part of this involved working one-on-one and in groups with customers to probe their conscious and unconscious motivations.
Presentation skills
I have conducted hundreds of presentations, mostly to external (highly demanding!) clients, at Board level in blue chip companies, in conference presentations to hundreds of attendees and at small, focused events. My approach is driven by my belief that people retain information that they see to be true - not what has been 'sold' to them.
Facilitation work
I have used my facilitation skills over the last 14 years in taking research findings and turning them into action for client companies. I frequently used visuals and graphics to provide an engaging and believable story, and as a stimulus for more creative thinking about 'what to do next'.
Other interests
I practise Tai Chi and meditation. Alongside this and my work, the things I love include my family, painting and pastel drawing, our suburban garden small(tiny!)holding, cooking, bushcraft, writing and reading.
